These three get muddled constantly, so here's the plain-English version. A protector is thin and protective — it changes how clean your mattress stays, not how it feels. A mattress topper is thick and comfortable — 5 or 10cm of quilted filling that changes how the bed feels entirely. A mattress pad sits between the two, adding light padding with light protection.
